Usha Empowered herself through pain

Usha is a 17 year-old-girl from the southern state of Karnataka, India. Many families in her village including her own belong to a scheduled caste system, specifically the Devadasi system. Usha’s mother and grandmother were previously dedicated to the Devadasi system. Usha supports her mother by cooking and also working in a farm that is about two kilometres away from her village.
