We call on the Dutch government and the EU to take action against online sexual abuse of children. Take action and sign the letter (in Dutch) calling on internet companies to be held accountable for ending child sexual abuse on their platforms.
Every day, over 240,000 images or videos of children being sexually abused are shared online. Behind each of those images and videos is a child who has to live with the knowledge that footage of their abuse is being circulated around the world, undetected and unregulated.
Solicitation of children online is also rife in the Netherlands and around the world. Around one in two children globally and 54% in the Netherlands has received sexually explicit content from an adult. 1 in 3 (34%) children globally and 55% in the Netherlands were asked to do something sexually explicit online they were uncomfortable with during childhood.
The responsibility should not fall on children to take action against abusers. It’s time to act to end child sexual abuse online.
Take action and sign the letter (in Dutch) calling on internet companies to be held accountable for ending child sexual abuse on their platforms.
