Humanitarian Response in India
Terre des Hommes Netherlands in India is working towards responding to the crisis resulting from COVID-19 in its target areas across districts of Koderma and Giridih in Jharkhand.
Families have been provided with relief support such as dry ration and hygiene kits. They were selected by TDH´s partner organisations after consulting with grassroots level staff members who had mapped highly vulnerable families to COVID-19. Priority is being given to female-headed households and families who have a member with disability.
The dry ration provided includes rice, dal, mustard oil, onion, and potato. The safety and hygiene kits include washable masks, soap, hand sanitiser, dettol, washing powder, and cotton towels.
The distribution process adopted methods of social distancing in its operation, where there is at least a one metre distance between people. Distributions are taking place primarily in government schools. Awareness is also being conducted on safety measures such as wearing of masks and other preventive mechanisms.
